DALTON NATIVE JR MARTINEZ PARTNERS WITH OPERATION FINALLY HOME, MOHAWK – WDEF

Army Veteran and Dalton Native, JR Martinez has seen his fair share of the spotlight in the past several months.
Martinez, recently crowned Dancing with the Stars champion, will be Grand Marshal of the 2012 Rose Parade.
The injured veteran is also representing Operation Finally Home.
Daniel Vargas, Executive Director of Operation Finally Home says, “all these things these guys are facing in war and then they come home and they end up either homeless or divorced. So it’s just an opportunity to make sure they always have a roof over their head.”
The Texas based organization builds homes for wounded warriors.. Mortgage free.
So, Martinez partnered with Dalton-based Mohawk Industries to help with flooring.
Elise Demboski, Mohawk, says ,”we employ thousands of people  who have friends family and relatives that serve our country. So we felt driven and passionate about supporting them and supporting our troops. So it was a natural fit for us.”
Mohawk will provide any type of flooring for 16 homes through Operation Finally Home.
From hardwood to carpet, anything the family would like, at no cost.

“They had reached out to JR and JR and Mohawk started discussing veterans issues and JR mentioned that he was partnered with us and Mohawk loved the idea and jumped on board,” says Vargas.

Operation Finally Home has built homes for these wounded heroes.
Vargas says it’s an effort to say thank you for all they do.
“That to be able to give something back to somebody who has given so much to us, protecting our freedom. It’s the least we can do. A home is minimal compared to what their sacrifices are,” says Vargas.more information...
